The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:), which fell 2.33% or 3.20 points to trade at 134.29 at the close. Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 0.86% or 1.91 points to end at 219.39 and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) was down 0.78% or 3.33 points to 421.50.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 5.59% to 41.58, APA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 2.99% to settle at 23.09 and Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE:) which gained 2.88% to close at 139.50.

The worst performers were Amentum Holdings LLC (NYSE:) which was down 5.70% to 21.03 in late trade, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 3.25% to settle at 403.84 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 2.33% to 134.29 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Baird Medical Investment Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which rose 623.81% to 7.60, Aptorum Group Ltd Class A (NASDAQ:) which was up 104.38% to settle at 2.80 and Coeptis Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 77.42% to close at 5.50.

The worst performers were Energous Co (NASDAQ:) which was down 61.89% to 1.01 in late trade, Sangamo Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 56.41% to settle at 1.02 and Intrusion Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 45.86% to 3.08 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1749 to 1045 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1707 fell and 1576 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.29% to 17.35.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.79% or 20.59 to $2,638.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.10% or 0.78 to hit $71.77 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.16% or 0.85 to trade at $74.42 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 1.04, while USD/JPY rose 0.29% to 157.29.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 108.24.
